Waiting for a supernova
Betelgeuse, a red supergiant in the Orion constellation, is the closest candidate for a supernova explosion, which could happen at any time in the next 10,000 years. The event is not a threat to life on the planet, the distance to Earth is too great, but humans will be able to observe. Despite technological advances and scientific advances, humans have not gained the ability to influence cosmic events, unless you count space debris in the solar system as an influence. Space remains distant and unfathomable, and man beside it is helpless and defiant at the same time. Human beings aspire to rule the world, conquer the universe, dream of the stars and naively try to domesticate a distant and terrifying cosmos, to make it understandable and close.
I keep filming
I would like to thank the astronomy club of the Palace of Young People’s Art and the people’s cosmonautics museum of school No. 62 in Izhevsk for their assistance.
